Canine compendium

I was inspired by the lovely illustrations in Woman and Dog: A Celebration of Their Unique Bond to do some spelunking in the fine art world for historic images of ladies with their canine companions.

When affairs of state weighed heavy on Elizabeth, her trusty pooch provided solace
"We are both quite fetching, yes?"
