Power to the Peeps!

Top prize at the Washington Post's sixth annual "Peeps Diorama Contest" was seized by Cori E. Wright, 38, of Falls Church, VA, whose "OccuPeep D.C." depicted the goings-on in McPherson Square in lavish detail. The hotly contested competition always brings in hundreds of whimsical entries.

Below is a smorgasbord of entries from 2012 and years past, beginning with "Peepdon Abbey" and continuing through "Peep de France," the royal wedding, peep riffs on art and literature, a peep nightclub, and oodles more fanciful creations make of those 3-inch-high concoctions of marshmallow, corn syrup, gelatin, and carnauba wax.

This is so meta! Well, if your creative juices are flowing, have a look at our crafts page for some more sweet inspiration.

  1. Are we talking Marshmallow Peeps, that soft and sticky confection? NOW I've seen everything! What do they do to keep the chicks standing up--shellac? (No pun intended) What about ants? Will we see a mosaic made of candy corn next? Somebody has all the time that I don't.
