Another approach was taken by Sarah Hyndman in her "Olympic Logo a Day" project.
The day it was announced that the Olympics were exactly a year away, I noticed that some things on my desk looked like an Olympic rings logo and so I photographed them. The next day I did the same with some doilies, and then the glasses I was washing up. Soon enough an obsession was born.What's been your favorite part of these Games so far?

I love the Olympics Math - "Discus = UFO - U" and "Track Cycling = Cycling - Getting Somewhere" definitely made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part? When the South Koreans tried to get a weaker opponent by underachieving. As a gold medalist in underachieving, I could have been their coach. The secret is to look like you're working like a dog and getting nothing done. (Excuse me. I think I hear my boss coming now.)
ReplyDeleteThat WAS priceless!
DeleteThe "Logo-a-Day" is a neat series! Here's an equation that I've come up with... "Professional Basketball Stars + Overall lack of effort + countries that don't really play basketball = extreme boredom"
ReplyDeletegood one!
DeleteI think someone should use the delicious candy lifesavers to make tomorrow's logo, who agrees?
ReplyDeleteCandy always has my vote!
DeleteI actually haven't had much time to watch the olypics this year. This is sad because I usually really enjoy the diving, and gymnastics. My favorite is the winter olympics! Ice Skaters are amazing.
ReplyDeleteI think Stephen Colbert said it best, when he said "Of course China has more Golds than us, we have to give them our Gold as soon as we get it." Oh, debt jokes.
ReplyDeletehahaha DEBT JOKES!!!!!
ReplyDeleteStrangely, I laughed more at "DEBT JOKES!!!!!" than the Colbert joke that precipitated your reaction.
DeleteLOLZ me too
DeleteMy favorite was watching the Women's Gymnastics win the the GOLD!! They were amazing! (Although I did feel bad for Russia's mess-up) #TeamUSA #TeamGabby :-)
ReplyDeleteHow about the Chinese Badminton Team throwing the game?! Excitement! Intrigue! Perhaps the only time we'll associate these things:)
ReplyDeleteLet me see if I get this:
ReplyDeleteDressage= horses+ dance lessons- music.
Beach volleyball= boring pickup game+ babes in bikinis= TV ratings.
Olympics=sports/4 years< politics.
How about Phelps and Lochte with more medals combined than several countires in the past 3 olympics! Pretty impressive.
ReplyDeleteLol at the Olympics math. (Beach volleyball = volleyball + sand + no clothes) Clever.
ReplyDeleteI've only been watching on and off this year, but I always try to tune in for the swim competitions. (Being from MD, I feel like this is imperative)
I really really love your photo obsession of assorted items to look like olympic rings. You could rival Google's search engine art logos!!!
