Daedalus "quip art" caption contest No. 1

Lesser-known spouses of fictional characters:
Monsieur Poppins, Mary's elusive French husband
"They call me Mrs. Ed"
Now your turn! The creator of the best caption for the image below, as adjudicated by votes over the next week from our Daily Glean, Facebook, and Twitter followers, will receive a free copy of Humor Me: An Anthology of Funny Contemporary Writing (Plus Some Great Old Stuff Too). Shamelessly borrowing from the New Yorker's caption contest, our staff will pick the top three captions for your voting pleasure from the comments sections of this blog. We'll post the three top candidates at the top right of the blog next Monday and allow a week for the votes to come in. Needless to say (and sadly, because some of you are crazy funny), Daedalus employees are not eligible. Entries do not need to adhere to the lesser-known-spouses theme.

    1. In keeping with that theme... "I need you to sign my permission slip. My class is going to 1920... to vote!"

  3. "It's all been for nothing. They picked Keira Knightly for the part of Emma. NOW GET ME OUT OF THIS WHALEBONE CORSET!"

In the unlikely event I win, I shall donate my prize to the humor-starved in the Republican Party.

    1. Not funny, but maybe useful:
"For what we owe the library in fees, you could've bought 5 books at Daedalus!"

Thank you, Mr. Fink, for the precedent.
